Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is a major national organisation with an infrastructure footprint consisting of 8,500 kilometres of track and revenues in excess of $840m. ARTC is responsible for managing infrastructure maintenance, capital upgrades and the movement of trains on interstate railway track across Australia, including the Hunter Valley Coal Rail Network. ARTC plays a critical role in the transport supply chain and in the overall economic development of Australia.
ARTC is executing a significant business transformation and growth strategy which capitalises on their extensive investment program, positioning rail as the mode of choice in the national logistics chain and now requires an experienced Commercial Analyst to join the team based in Newcastle. The role of Commercial Analyst presents an outstanding career development opportunity, will report to the Commercial Manager and be a key member of the finance team.
Your accountabilities will include the provision of accurate and timely financial and commercial analysis for the Hunter Valley business unit, supporting a solid foundation of cost and revenue reporting with both internal and external stakeholders. You will provide detailed financial modelling for revenue, pricing, forecasting and regulatory compliance and offer sound commercial advice including scenario, variance analysis, calculations and outputs. Highly collaborative, this role will also see you supporting the alignment of the finance team and customer contracts team and assist with the analysis of various business cases relating to the Hunter Valley and whole of business.  
With tertiary qualifications in finance or a related discipline you will have highly developed numeracy skills, including a demonstrable logical and analytical approach to problem solving in a commercially based role. This position will also perform end of month processes relating to billing, revenue, contract consumption and performance management and the reconciliation of revenue/costs against budget/forecast from financial models and ensuring alignment with finance results.
Exposure to commercially focused information systems and project management will be well regarded with accreditation with relevant professional bodies, such as CPA Australia, highly desirable.
