Untitled document Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is a major national organisation with an infrastructure footprint consisting of 8,500 kilometres of track and revenues in excess of $840m. ARTC is responsible for managing infrastructure maintenance, capital upgrades and the movement of trains on interstate railway track across Australia, including the Hunter Valley Coal Rail Network.

ARTC is executing a significant business transformation and growth strategy which capitalises on their extensive investment program, positioning rail as the mode of choice in the national logistics chain and now requires an experienced Manager Major Projects to join the Hunter Valley team based in Newcastle. The role of Manager Major Projects is pivotal and presents an outstanding career development opportunity, which will report to the General Manager Asset Development and be a key team member, an influential peer within ARTC as well as a trusted advisor across a wide ranging stakeholder group.

Your primary objective will be the development and delivery of a diverse suite of projects that align with ARTC’s strategic and operational objectives in supporting the changing needs of customers and stakeholders to ultimately deliver value across the Hunter Valley Coal Rail Network. A key success indicator for this role will be your authentic leadership to enable, empower and engage with your team together with building and enhancing relationships with customers and stakeholders.  

You will lead the design and construction of the ARTC Hunter Valley Corridor Capacity infrastructure projects; be accountable across diverse projects from concept to commissioning; actively participate in the development of future projects; negotiate and influence commercial terms with suppliers and contractors, and be actively involved in originating proposals and business case documentation which influence future strategy and continuous improvement.

With relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably an engineering discipline, you will be an active and engaged leader with highly developed communication, project, process and change management skills, including a demonstrable logical and analytical approach to critical thinking problem solving in a senior project management role. Your career will be supported by extensive experience across diverse operational and capital projects while an exposure to rail, civil, structures or engineering maintenance will be highly regarded. Of course a total commitment to safety is essential.
