Over the last five (5) years, we have grown rapidly and currently have 39 depots within Australia and employ close to 1,000 employees. We have a fleet of over 500 vehicles servicing over 16,000 commercial customers and over 450,000 households.

REMONDIS is dedicated to service excellence, working collaboratively with customers and local authorities to deliver innovative, safe and reliable solutions across all industry sectors and is entering an exciting period of growth and the recruitment of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is critical to this growth.

The COO position will be based at the Sydney Head Office (Mascot) and sit on the Board of REMONDIS Australia reporting in a matrix environment to both the local CEO/MD and the Chairperson of the Board and is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong operational background (heavy industry), financial acumen and outstanding people leadership. In addition, the role will also form part of the local Executive Team.

The role will have direct P&L responsibility for all of the REMONDIS Business Units in Australia as well as the HSEQ and Plant & Equipment teams.

Being a newly created position at REMONDIS, it will be critical for the success of the role to review the REMONIDS operational business and develop an action plan with the Executive Team. Therefore, you will need to be a highly motivated and enthusiastic person, with a commitment to safety and be able to work in a team environment and lead a large team.

Specific duties include but are not limited to;
·    Deliver national operational excellence and operational efficiencies through operational reviews and business processes
·    Mentor and develop State General Managers and other Managers to ensure sufficient succession planning
·    Lead and develop HSEQ & P&E along with the rest of the Executive Team to deliver cultural change and mitigate any potential risks
·    Actively pursue new business both in existing disciplines and new strategic opportunities in new markets that fit the REMONDIS intellectual and logistics base in consultation with the CEO, CSO and the REMONDIS Australia Board
·    Implement strategies to maximise the revenue base and increase REMONDIS’ value-add proposition for commercial, Industrial and domestic waste collection, disposal, recycling and material recovery; and
·    Maximise the return on sales (ROS) and on our investments (ROFE).

The successful candidate will need to possess:
·    Highly motivated and enthusiastic person, with a commitment to safety;
·    Able to lead a geographically diverse team;
·    Extensive, successful management experience in a similar role;
·    Completed graduate studies in Business, Finance or Engineering (post-graduate preferred);
·    Good planning and communication skills; and
·    Good computer skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
