Hunter Water Corporation delivers valued water, wastewater and associated services to Newcastle and the greater Hunter region. Our purpose is to enable the sustainable growth of the region and the life our communities desire, with high quality, affordable services. We are embarking on a new strategic direction to build a more innovative, collaborative and resilient organisation that is a thought leader in developing a sustainable water and wastewater future.

Hunter Water Corporation is a state-owned corporation that services a population approaching 600,000 people within the local government areas of Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Maitland, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Dungog and parts of Singleton.  Current revenue is in excess of $330 million with assets of over $2.5 billion.  Our region and our customer base is experiencing significant growth and Hunter Water is strategically redirecting its investments over the next few years.  The CFO will play a critical role in positioning Hunter Water for a sustainable future.

This is clearly a significant strategic appointment for Hunter Water and will be a key contributor to financial sustainability, operational excellence and shaping future strategy.  You will partner with the Managing Director and Executive Management Team with a clear view to future strategy, markets and growth which you will achieve through economic thought leadership and directing financial strategy across the organisation. You will lead the finance team in the provision of best practice commercial services, reporting, compliance and stakeholder engagement which allow Hunter Water to meet its objectives. You will provide support and insight to the Board to allow them to efficiently conduct their affairs, and advocate Hunter Water’s interests to Shareholder representatives (including NSW Treasury).

Your career history will demonstrate outstanding financial leadership with exceptional results contributing to sustainable profitability through operational, commercial and strategic initiatives.  You will quickly develop productive and positive relationships with the MD and Executive in supporting them to achieve enterprise wide objectives.  You will have exceptional leadership capabilities, playing a prominent role in the executive leadership team for the organisation and developing a strong finance team which constructively partners with the business and stakeholders.

You will readily demonstrate your capability as an influential finance leader with extensive career experience in CFO, Commercial or Divisional Finance leadership roles. You will have exceptional influencing skills with multiple stakeholders across a diverse operational environment.  It is essential you have strong analytical skills with the capability to influence strategy, critique organisational performance and deliver leading process improvement initiatives. It is expected your qualifications include CAANZ or a CPA membership ideally supported through post graduate MBA studies.

Exposure to complex economic, pricing, regulatory reporting and compliance environments which continue to initiate and drive new strategy objectives will be well regarded. This role is clearly focused on future strategy and positively challenging and influencing stakeholders.
